Scanning and Reprographics

FARAWAY ISLAND GICLEE has recently installed a new digital scanning system in order to be able to reproduce high quality and, importantly for artists, much larger file sizes. This is especially for large canvases and paintings which normal scanners are unable to copy.

The hub of this system is a powerful, Phase One FX1 digital scanner mounted on a 5x4" camera body. This has the capability of producing single files up to 360mb in one take at 135 megapixels.

This technology is rare in the region and gives Faraway Island the facility to scan original paintings and drawings much larger then has been previously possible, and heavy impastos and pastels can be scanned more successfully.

Coupled with our 24" and 44" Giclée printers we endeavour to give our clients the best digital reproduction in the South West.
